What is your reaction to putting the Christmas decorations away? Are you happy for the clean slate or sad that it’s over?
I, for one, am energized by the thought of a fresh start. I enjoy carefully putting away the red and green for an 11 month rest, knowing I will be happy to see it again after it’s hibernation.
This year, I’d like to challenge you to truly make it a fresh start. When your accessories that were re-located to make room for the holiday fare have been taken back out, try and give each piece a new spot in your home. Think outside the box. If you always have candlesticks on you mantle, move them to your coffee table. Maybe some of your artwork can swap rooms. Many stores are now selling pillow covers, with which you can change the look of a room simply and inexpensively.
Perhaps you have a friend with whom you can swap accessories for a season? You can each have a whole new look on virtually a zero budget. Speaking of friends, an honest friend can be worth her weight in gold as a fresh eye for your spaces. Often new ideas don’t come to us for our own homes because we’ve simply stared at them for too long! The possibilities are endless here.
I hope this gave you a few ideas for a fresh decorating start. I’d love to hear them. Let me know what your epiphanies are and we can all take this opportunity the refresh our lives and our homes!
