I hope you are all well and happy and plugging along with your resolutions for the new year! If not, give yourself a break and start again tomorrow!
In thinking of the new year as a fresh start, why not give some rooms in your home a fresh start as well. I am not necessarily referring to giant changes here. Sometimes the smaller things can make a huge difference. So how about what’s hanging on your walls?
Are your pictures and artwork grouped nicely and at the right height? What is the right height you ask? And how do you group things? Both have come up a lot lately with my clients, so I thought I’d share!
Tipsographic.com & made.com produced a tip sheet that can help you out with that! I love this graphic they’ve produced!
My observation in clients homes is that framed pieces are hung too high and not grouped (they are spread too far apart to relate to each other.).
Another thing you can do to your photos or art is mat and frame them to make them even more “important” or “special”. We recently had a houseguest from Spain who brought us a lovely painting of the Casa Batllo in Barcelona, one of Gaudi’s amazing works. Just adding a few mats & a frame gave the artwork even more importance. I can’t wait to find a place of honor for this lovely gift!
Are you feeling intimidated about creating a gallery wall or displaying your artwork? They really aren’t so difficult, and so worth the effort. Here is my Pinterest board of photo and art collages: https://www.pinterest.com/alysoncraig/photo-collages/ I hope you get lots of ideas here!
Here is a gallery wall from my daughter’s room:
Why not give it a try today? I can’t wait to see what you do! Have a beautiful day! ~Alyson
