Hi there! I apologize for my lack of posts last week! My daughter was moving home from being away for a year and I wanted to surprise her with a brand new room, and in the process, really wanted to surprise all of you as well. However, I am still waiting for several items to finish off the space and then properly photograph it all.
In the meantime, I want to show you a great idea my other daughter had! We made a bookshelf out of an $20 ladder I bought from Amazon. It saved a ton of space int he room and I really love how it looks!
I got some L brackets from Home Depot that would allow me to mount the ladder far enough away from the wall to give the books space to sit on the treads of the ladder. They were really strong and were 5″ long on each branch of the “L”. I screwed 1 end of the bracket to the bottom of the ladder tread (leaving about 3 inches between ladder and wall), and then screwed the other end into the wall (going up so the books would cover it) using some hefty molly bolts and screws to assure the weight of the books would be no big deal.
I and thrilled with the result of my daughter’s creative idea! Stay tuned for the rest of the room to be revealed soon!
Have a beautiful day! ~Alyson
